From "This Gospel is from God" (Heavenward Bound, August 2026)
This issue of HB concerns the critically-important (yet often-overlooked) first step a person must take when they hear the Gospel. The answer may surprise you!
The Gospel of Christ is God’s message to you.
You should respond to it for the same reason you should respond to all important messages you receive in your life: Important messages come from important sources.
How important is being right with God to you?
What will you do with God’s message to you?
I hope and pray that you will do with this message what the Thessalonian believers did with it: “you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God”.
This issue started with a question I was asked once in a Bible study: “What are we going to do about those who have not yet obeyed the Gospel?”
When that question was asked, before I could respond, another brother of mine responded first:
“I know you’re not going to like this answer, but they are responsible as individuals. We can’t do it for them.”
Indeed, as much as we would love to, we can’t respond for you. The message of the Gospel is for all, but it is individually addressed.
If you believe that this Gospel came from God, and because of that you are willing to heed its message, we encourage you to respond as Jesus and His apostles taught their listeners to respond.
